  We will be hosting our kickoff party this year at Buffalo Lodge. We will be catering in food as well have appetizers. We should have the Pactimo kit to try on for sizing and sponsorship offerings for new opportunities for 2026. Additionally, we will be introducing the new board, sponsors, and upcoming opportunities we have planned. Thank you for being a member of Soco Velo and being apart of the 2026 season.   How: No-Drop ride with occasional effort with full regroup.  Front and rear lights required.

  Criterium has restrooms and drinking fountains that you can use before the ride. The Criterium mechanics are also there for last minute emergencies with your bike.

  Our group practices safe riding by communicating with each other along the ride and following the rules of the road. SOCO Velo has a no tolerance policy for discrimination or unfriendly behavior.

• Easter Bunny Road Ride

  What: Work off the Peeps and Jelly Beans on this club road ride with SOCO Velo Easter Saturday. We'll warm up with gradual climb around Peregrine and descend back into town and the Rock Island Trail. A stop at Sasquatch Cookies to refuel and then back to the Sante Fe Trail for our return to Criterium. 

  Riders should have a taillight. Please bring adequate hydration, food and $ for cookies if you want. 

  Please arrive 10 min early for safety speech

  This ride is open to SOCO Velo members only and prospective members (FIRST RIDE ONLY WITH WAIVER).   We do offer a free 30 day trial membership if you know someone who would like to ride, but is not yet a member.

• Kids on Bikes Fix-It Night #3

  Pedal Station Fix-It

  Join us for our next Kids on Bikes Fix It night, on at the new Pedal Station location.  Work will begin around 6pm and last for a couple hours (8pm).  But you don't have to make it on time or be able to stay the entire time to make a difference.

  Also, you don't need bike maintenance skills. Pedal Station will have a mechanic on hand to tell us what needs to be done and to help teach and guide us. There are always things to do that are less technical like disassembling bikes, sorting parts, or even test riding a repaired bike.  We can pair you with someone else to assist and learn. If you are an experienced "wrench" - we can learn from you, too!

  Kids on Bikes is a wonderful nonprofit: through their programs, they provide free or inexpensive bikes to children, conduct riding camps, provide helmets and locks, and much more. Help SoCoVelo promote cycling where it starts - in supporting the joy of children learning the freedom and responsibilities of riding a bike!

  Fireman's Breakfast Ride - Weather Dependent

  Main Loop Details (40 miles)

  START: arrive at 7:45am, latest arrival time 8:00am with a latest roll-out at 8:05am
  LOCATION: Fountain Library Parking Lot
  ROUTE: Strava Route - HFD Breakfast Loop - 40 miles with 1,500 feet climb
  FOCUS: Group will ride together out of town and try to stay together as much as possible.  Some rolling hill make this tricky on the first leg.  16+ mph overall average but some sections might dabble into 18-20 mph.  Faster riders can ride ahead to the regroup or double back to add miles. Rear lights required. 
  REGROUP: Regroups will occur at each change of direction - northeast corner, southeast corner (this stop is for breakfast at the Hanover Fire Station) and southwest corner
  SAFETY: Traffic is very light and for the most part the road is in good condition.  
  

  FOCUS, SAFETY & REGROUP: The down and back parts of this ride will be a faster pace than the loop and on busier roads than the main route.  Riders need to be prepared for a much bigger day both physically with training and preparation with hydration/food/mechanical fixes. 

  Hydration & Fuel

  In the event that the fire department is not doing breakfast (we do not actually check if the event is on before the ride), make sure to be prepared with enough food and water just in case.  But the only time they've been closed to my knowledge is during Covid.  At the half way point for both routes we stop at the Hanover Fire Station to eat.  It's a cash or credit breakfast with many breakfast items made to order.  Would estimate around 5 dollars would set you up plus it's nice to drop a good tip since it's a fundraiser.  Typically the group will finish before noon back at the library. - Happy Riding

  On Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will traverse and unite the globe as nothing before it. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways, and to raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists.

  The ride is free and open to all cyclists - road, mountain bike, gravel, trail, recumbent, etc. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Our Colorado Springs ride will begin and end at the Colorado Springs City Hall. All riders must wear helmets and have a working taillight during the ride, and sign a waiver before the ride. We are also looking for a few volunteers for the day of the event.

  Location: The ride will begin and end at Colorado Springs City Hall. The schedule of events is:
  6:00 pm – Riders begin to arrive and sign waivers.
  6:45 pm – Welcoming remarks and the Ride of Silence poem is read.
  7:00 pm – Riders depart.
  8:00 pm – Riders begin to arrive back at City Hall.
  8:30 pm - All riders have returned to City Hall

  The ride is 8.5 miles long. We will ride at a speed of 8-10 mph. The max speed is 12 mph, and we will try to keep all the riders together so the lead riders will slow down at the front to avoid stringing out the line.
