Event: Lake City overnight ride
Dates: Saturday and Sunday September 6-7

Description: This is a cross-country, overnight ride. We will ride from Gunnison to Lake City through beautiful, mountainous, Colorado countryside, spend the night in Lake City, and ride back to Gunnison the next day. Each day will provide 55 miles of riding with 4,200ft of climbing on Saturday and 3,200ft on Sunday. Estimated riding time is 3.5-4.5hrs each day, including breaks and waits.

We’ll use a vehicle to shuttle all our clothes and stuff to Lake City and back, as well as provide food and drink support during the rides. Hopefully we can entice someone to be our full-time support driver. If not, we can take turns driving.

I’ve ridden a couple of week-long supported rides and really enjoyed it. This is my first time organizing one and I’d like to limit the size to 10 riders. It will be first-come, first-served with later people on a wait list.
We will need to coordinate reserving lodging in Lake City. Options include hotel, cabins, Air B&B, etc. There are not a lot of rooms there so we can’t wait too long. Once we reach critical mass, I’ll get in touch with people about lodging preferences.
Since this is a special event in a remote area, it is open to SOCO Velo members only.
